So this is the first year I didn't fish the march merkin in key west last week. Wish I didn't miss it especially after checking out one of Will Benson's trailers. I called Captain Bartlett today and got the low down. Talked about hitting it in July. If you think fly fishing is boring you might think differently after you check this http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.Channel&ChannelID=418312156 .
Congrats to Will Benson and Mike Allen for the win and generally just having it dialed. Also congrats to Lauren Rea for putting another notch in. Hope to see you all next year.
back from the boat all full up on some big lines and the successful extraction of the M8 from the backcountry after the good doctor got in a little over his head....literally. skeleton crew got it done with the powderwhore leading the way and to borrow a recent quote we are all still hooked like a kansas stripper on meth. pics soon and thanks for reading.

The only thing that has really changed is that i don't think DBT has a new album coming out and it is avery ipa and i broke the last snifter on sunday. hope this finds you well this year as well.
drive by truckers have a new album coming out on the 22nd i think and i sit here at least two hours after i said i'd be in bed pounding out alittle on these keys with a leaded crystal snifter full of old heathen imperial stout. i had great plans of putting the year in perspective, talking about the good fortune i have had this year. i thought about recounting the great times i have had. i read little brothers honest and heart felt thoughts on life. your doing great my man. and if i know one thing it's that what comes around comes around. i thought about pineing over what is to come and all of the ambitions and drive that keeps me trying my best to keep it keeping it and what i realized is that when good is good it is a time to sit and sip and be humble. to think of others and how i might best serve them. to be super thankful and to try in the new year to pay it forward. i have had so much done for me and given to me and just plain full on love bestowed upon me this year that this year all i want to really focus on is everything that is not me. giving some back and telling all the important and incredible folks that have been generous enough to share a story, a beer, a heartache, a laugh, a tear, or even a "what's the capitol of tialand? BANGKOK!" bit with me this year a little more of my best. so i guess that is my new years resolution. giving not getting. it has been a wild year. i read a little of someone who seemed to think this blogging thing can create an arena of "i did this and you didn't" and some type of competition rather than just getting out and doing things with friends. couldn't be further from the truth for me. if i come across as being that way in any way here i apologize. i want nothing more than to revel in peoples successes. and maybe things with the local crew have become a bit fragmented. so be it. sometimes you need to take a step or two back to see the whole picture. believe me i have seen enough of the other side of the coin to know this and a dear friend could really use ALL of our support right now. so with that get out, be happy and let the world know about it. i hope this post finds all of you in good health and happiness in this new year. thanks for reading.
Sitting after a session with the good dr and the big guy …speculation around the heli and February or March listening to a play list made by a friend that is dripping with all of the things left unsaid and the pain of slow sad ends drilling out in the cold night air over a 1974 oluwatu video featuring gerry lopez and the soundtrack flows as if it fits as he settles and flows into and out of deep barrels in far off wild places on a gun feeling and remembering a not so distant time when I wanted to screw a corkscrew into my tongue to mask the real pain and relatively sane and happy for a change.
