I rode the heil hall connector at noon on a Sunday. I stopped at Boulder Cycle Sport and bought a few tubes and talked a bit with Brandon (www.dopersuck.com) buy a shirt will ya....about the new Scott Spark and misguided plans etc. The trail was reasonable.... the crowds were retarded. New mountain bike trails in the county are good. It seems that there are a ton more users than the system can support. I just filled out a survery for Boulder County Open Space and while it didn't actually say "mountain bikers are assholes and hikers and horses hate you... you have now claimed the distinguished honor of being first recreators to be hated by two different species" you could definitely infer that we are not the favorite sons and daughters of Boulder County and the trail using community in general. No suprise there of course.. but the questions centered around use on different days and or different days for different activities or one direction only made me cringe. Come on.... just let it be. So what...now if I want to roll out my door and use some of the open space trail systems I have to check my calender... fucking lame. One of the last places I have in my life where I don't need to think about or follow someone elses rules (within reason of course...gotta protect the place right)is in the backcountry or on "social" trail systems. I know use is an issue it is just weak when goverment steps in with MORE rules. This gentrify anything soulful attitude... I will stop before this gets ugly....maybe I'll get in my truck and go night skiing at Keystone.... that will cheer me up. Thanks for reading.
